Earlier this y, we were called out to a house in Hemmant that reported mudding coming from the ceiling. After climbing into the roof void, we discovered a massive Nasutitermes nest that was causing the problem!
The large size was not the only unusual discovery. We found a reddish/black bug clamouring over the surface of the nest. We believe the insect to be the Termite Assassin Bug – Tegea atropicta.
This bug is regarded as a specialist predator of termites found on trees or fallen logs and nests!
