Best value: Pest Control + Termite Inspection Package

Save $150

Most homeowners book pest control because they want a cleaner, safer, more comfortable home. But in Brisbane, termites are the bigger hidden risk. You get visible pest protection plus peace of mind that your home has been checked for termite activity using professional inspection devices.

What are the nuisance pests in Brisbane homes?

Living in Brisbane brings plenty of perks, but it also means dealing with a fair share of creepy-crawlies. Thanks to South East Queensland’s warm, humid climate, local families tend to see a lot more bugs than our interstate neighbours.

Take a quick look at our chart, and it’s no surprise that termites take out the number one spot. They are easily the most stressful pest since they can literally eat your home from the inside out, causing massive structural damage. Following close behind on the homeowner’s “most wanted” list are cockroaches, rodents, ants, and spiders.

The good news? Conquer Termites & Pest Management has safe, highly effective solutions to wipe out every single one of them.

Now, while airborne pests like mosquitoes and flies aren’t on our service checklist, there are plenty of great DIY tricks you can use to keep them at bay.

How can I stop flying insects in my home?

There is nothing more annoying than a fly continuously buzzing around and landing on the food you’re trying to prepare, no matter how many times you shoo it away. Then there are those super-annoying mosquitoes that can turn a warm summer night’s sleep into absolute hell.

Of course, you could keep a can of surface spray handy and hunt them down one by one. But let’s be honest – that’s exhausting, tedious, and not all that effective since more always seem to show up.

What to do about flying insects in your home

Most flying insects that wander into your home are pure opportunists, drawn in by lights and food odours. Just like dealing with cockroaches, the goal is to stop them before they settle in. Here is how you can fight back:

  • Shut your windows and doors: Keep them closed during peak activity times, like dusk, when mosquitoes love to hunt.

  • Install fly screens: Ensure all open windows and doors have tight-fitting fly screens to let the breeze in while keeping bugs out.

  • Cover food at all times: Don’t leave meals or prep ingredients exposed on the counter to tempt flies.

  • Turn your ceiling fans on: Flying insects are weak flyers; a strong, consistent downdraft makes it incredibly difficult for them to land.

  • Use automated wall-mounted spray units: Strategically place these around your home for continuous protection.

The truth about wall-mounted spray units

You might feel a bit hesitant about a device that automatically disperses a mist into your living space. However, these commercial-grade units use a natural active ingredient (pyrethrin) that is completely harmless to humans and pets while being incredibly lethal to bugs.

Best of all, you don’t need a professional license to get them. You can easily pick these units and refills up yourself on your next trip to Bunnings, Coles, or Woolworths.

Geckos – How to control

We know they are a problem, as it is one of our most popular enquiries!

Asian Geckos are a staple of South East Queensland life. While some homeowners appreciate them as free pest control for eating spiders and cockroaches, others are deeply frustrated by their loud “chuk-chuk-chuk” calls, messy droppings, and tendency to short out air conditioning units.

The reality of control

In Australia, there is no registered poison designed specifically for geckos, making direct chemical elimination ineffective. Homeowners must accept that complete eradication is impossible; geckos are highly mobile and will inevitably re-colonise properties from surrounding areas over time.

Two-Step management strategy

1. Starve them out & Block entry

  • Annual Pest Control: Schedule a professional treatment every 12 months to wipe out their insect food source.

  • Seal cracks: Block structural gaps where geckos hide to make them feel too vulnerable to stay.

  • Install screens: Keep window screens tight to stop moths—their favourite meal—from entering.

  • Manage lighting: Turn off outdoor lights and pull curtains at night to stop attracting bugs.

2. Physical traps If populations remain heavy, place standard glue boards or UV light sticky traps near windows and outdoor lights where geckos congregate to physically catch them.

General Pest Control – Common Questions

Do I need to prepare my home before a general pest control treatment?

In most cases, no preparation is required before a general pest control treatment. There’s no need to empty cupboards or move furniture.
The only exception is a severe German cockroach infestation, where your technician may give you specific preparation advice beforehand.

Is general pest control safe for my family and pets?

Yes. The products used for general pest control are approved for residential use and are applied in a safe, targeted manner.

As a precaution, we recommend:

  • Removing pet food and water bowls before treatment and washing them afterwards

  • Keeping reptiles out of the home during treatment

  • Covering fish tanks and turning off aerator pumps during treatment and for 30 minutes afterwards

Should pest control be done before or after moving into a new home?

If possible, it’s best to have pest control carried out before you move in.
This allows complete coverage, with no furniture to spray around, and ensures all cleaning is finished before treatment.

Does the power need to be on if the house is vacant?

Yes. If the property is vacant, power must be connected so the treatment can be completed properly.
This is especially important, as the roof void is treated using electric application equipment.

Should cleaning or painting be done before or after pest control?

For best results:

  • Complete painting, general cleaning, and carpet cleaning before treatment

  • Do not remove spider webs before the service – this should be done 7–10 days after treatment

  • Window cleaning should also be left until after the treatment

After treatment, windows can be cleaned using a squeegee or newspaper with cleaning agents.
Do not hose down windows or external walls, as this will reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.

What pests are covered in a general pest control treatment?

A general pest control treatment covers:

  • Spiders

  • Cockroaches

  • Silverfish

  • Coastal brown ants

It does not include termites, borers, rodents, fleas, or other specialist pests. These require separate treatments and are priced accordingly.

How does a general pest control treatment work?

General pest control is a residual treatment.

  • Pests present at the time of treatment are usually eliminated quickly

  • Pests that contact the treated surfaces later may not die immediately, but will become affected and eventually die

You may notice pests appearing in unusual areas (such as walls or open floors) shortly after treatment – this is normal.

What if I keep seeing pests after treatment?

If pests have only recently contacted the treatment, they may still appear active. Monitor the situation over the following days.

If new pests continue to appear, or activity doesn’t reduce as expected, contact us – a follow-up assessment may be required.

How often should general pest control be done?

For most Brisbane homes, general pest control should be carried out annually.
For problem areas or high-pressure environments, six-monthly treatments may be recommended.

Commercial properties may require more frequent servicing.

How can I reduce pest activity between treatments?

Good housekeeping makes a big difference:

  • Clean food scraps and crumbs daily from floors, benches, and bins

  • Fix leaking taps, pipes, and appliances promptly

Moisture attracts cockroaches and ants and can also increase the risk of termite activity.

Why does local experience matter in pest control?

Every area has different pest pressures. Our technicians are local, fully trained, and experienced in Brisbane conditions, allowing them to:

  • Identify problems faster

  • Choose the most effective treatment

  • Apply products safely and precisely

That’s how pest control should be done – properly, not generically.
